A chain of mountains to the west. There are massive mining operations in the eastern foothills, which also serve as penal institutions.

The mountain chain was an effective barrier for exploration and exploitation of the Wilds, until the expansion of the Marrow Passes by the nations of Maera made settlements on the western side possible.

Disputes over who were to control the Marrow Passes led to the The Great War. After the war, the mining towns and frontier settlements banded together to form the The Coalition of Independent Cities.
